(Please enjoy..S Club was my favourite group as a child. I loved this song. I hope you do too.)
We need to be people of resolution.
We need to say what we mean...mean what we say and stick to it. Prior to even saying anything,we need to exercise sufficient thought that we don't end up being resolute in ignorance or any thought that promises to take us nowhere.
Resolution to me means "PATIENCE"...at least that would be one of the components. Each year, millions of persons traditionally make resolutions. As oppose to spontaneously reflecting on their lives as issues arise-most wait till years end,to look back at their life's problems, most of which by that time they can't even remember and then for formalities sake-promise themselves to do better .
I look back at lots of the regrettable issues in my life..(yes, I haven't gotten to that point where I can honestly say I have none), I realize it is because I had been too hasty, too quick to react. I had no patience. In anything we do,we need to be resolute. You either decide to do something or decide not to.Whichever you choose, have sufficient discipline to stick to what you promised. It is important to remember why we made certain decisions. If the circumstances which prompted us to make those resolutions haven't change-then we shouldn't waiver.
I have passed my pinky promise days-except when going through contracts with my little sister but you and I both understand that promises are important. Promises to God;eg. marriage. Promises to yourself eg. abstinence of any sort and promises to other people. When we decide to be people of resolution-we create the do's and don'ts of our character. That doesn't mean that we stop being spontaneous.No. It means that if we says yes.We mean yes. When we promise,we deliver.
Many young people struggle with this. They're not resolute in their thinking. People of resolution are very different from those who thrive on instant gratification. Very little manifest positively in their lives...and when it does, its not for a very long time.I'm not sure how clear I've been and if you truly get what I'm saying...but the difference might help.
When it comes to Money.
People of instant gratification. Broke. Need job. Tries to get job. Doesn't happen quick. Gives up on self quickly-resorts to theft and illicit activity.
People of Resolution
Broke.OMG!I need to do something. Decides to go job hunting. Persists in his/her job hunt. He/she waits because he/she is aware that his her efforts will manifest. If time has lapsed,a person of resolution will continue to press forward.
People of resolution have an inner clock of discipline. They are hopeful and trust in fulfillment of their dreams-no matter the circumstance and it is because of this belief that they are willing to persist no matter how pressing the trial is.
Most of the persons who read Soulfully Stella are young and I urge you..-I challenge you to develop that characteristic. I ,too am on this journey to be resolute. Being lukewarm in your thinking can be seen as versatility and it can also be seen as weakness.
Know what you're about. Have a plan for yourself. You don't have to have it mapped down to the point where you know what you're going to eat for breakfast three years from now but you need to have a vision for yourself. You need to act on that vision, believe in it,pray over it and breathe life into it. Decide what you're about and where you intend to go. Map out the steps you believe will get you there and be resolute.
"Determination- a fixed purpose..the power and will to persist...resolve...to have that drive..to have the grit..to go the distance...to be hell bent in reaching that goal and getting it done..NO MATTER WHAT"-unknown
